The Award is intended to help student organizations eager to launch or continue a major France-related project on campus by providing a unique package of funding, mentoring and networking. With this support, awardees will be expected to expose new audiences to France and French culture on their campus and beyond.

Brigitte is a French indie-pop duo formed in 2008 by Sylvie Hoarau and Aurélie Saadaa. A throwback to the 60s flower power era, the band's revivalist tendencies were highlighted on their 2011 debut album, Et vous, tu m'aimes? which reached platinum status in France and gold in Europe. The female duo combines lounge-pop, retro-folk, and French cabaret to produce an authentic, hippie-chic sound that is infectious and sensual. The band's second album, À Bouche que veux-tu was released last year; its lush arrangements render it distinctly French. This will be Brigitte's first ever performance in Chicago.

IAM à Chicago
April 19 | Show 8:30 pm | The Bottom Lounge, 1375 W Lake St. Chicago, IL 60607
Icons of a golden age in French rap, IAM is returning to North America for a major tour with a exclusive stop at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago on April 19. IAM is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and celebrated examples of the French rap scene and inspired many subsequent generations of rappers and devoted fans by blending Golden Age rap with Arabic tones and Egyptian mythology. Starting from Marseilles, IAM began its journey to fame with the release of their album Ombre est Lumière and reached its peak after the release of L’école du micro d’argent, which eventually sold 1.5 million copies worldwide. Four years later, Revoir un Printemps appeared, a record that established the quality of IAM once again to hip hop fans by offering a refreshing sound to the genre. Subsequent releases continued to find chart success, making IAM France's top hip hop act today.
